Barbara Rumpel’s adventurous spirit led her to her husband, her love of shooting sports and her commitment to defending the Second Amendment. She and her husband are generous supporters of the NRA Whittington Center as Charter Patriot members.
Game For Anything
Whether it was moving to New York alone as a young woman or partaking in a helicopter hog hunt in later years, NRA Women’s Leadership Forum Executive Committee member Barbara Rumpel has made her way through life being “game for anything.” That attitude is what led her to follow an advertisement for the 2010 Women’s Wilderness Escape to Raton, New Mexico. Over the course of nine days with 90 women on the more than 33,000 acres of the NRA Whittington Center, Barbara fell in love with the shooting sports—and the location.
Highway to Adventure
Both Barbara and her husband John generously support the NRA Whittington Center as Charter Patriot members. For Barbara, the NRA’s Whittington Center represents the freedom of the wilderness and her rights as an American. She uses these God-given rights to continue her firearms education with the same daring spirit she has always applied—whether it’s learning to shoot left handed or taking on one of the five or six new courses she signs on for each year. Barbara lives her life on the edge of her comfort zone, which is why NRA’s programs speak to her.
Appreciating Freedoms
At the Whittington Center, Barbara and John co-mingle with individuals passionate about the shooting sports from around the world. Hearing their stories and how other countries have more limited perspectives on gun ownership helped Barbara understand the importance the legacy of the Founding Fathers left behind. Whether it’s a passion for protecting our constitutional freedoms, the right to self defense or the hunting tradition, the Second Amendment speaks to its supporters on a unique and individual basis. Barbara, as a lifetime NRA member and supporter of many NRA initiatives, hopes that that freedom she protects can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Few causes have such a direct impact on our children, grandchildren and the future of our country as the Second Amendment. We invite you to join us as a woman, a leader and a keystone of America’s treasured legacy of freedom. Come be a part of the NRA Women’s Leadership Forum and help us shape the future!
